It's 2018 and I continue to paint at VASA. I am currently working on material for the Goop of 7 show in June called "Panel Discussion".
Invitation to the Goop of 7 show Panel Discussion, June at VASA in St. Albert.
Homage 2 1
24x40, acrylic on board with brass rods, $640.
I have done a small series of paintings as homages to the American abstract painters of the 1950s and 1960s. This is intended to evoke the work of Mark Rothko, one of the founders of color field painting, although this isn't a field of paint.
Prussian Blue on Orange, 16x20, Acrylic mixed media on board. SOLD
This is the last of my Panel Discussion pieces. We were to use Prussian Blue on a smallish board, so I did. I also used strips of Yupo and canvas threads covered in a vibrant yellow-orange. The heavy lines are grit, somehow I got the blue to be sparkly!
Having finished with the Goop of 7 Panel Discussion works I am moving back to very fluid, organic, abstract/semi-abstract works in preparation for a solo show in 2019. Stay tuned!
Untitled Thuree
24x30, Acrylic, $540
I started with a strong swirling vertical mark, and then was faced with what to do after that. Blue-y bits on top might be sky, light and dark yellow sides for contrast.
The following paintings will be in my upcoming solo show at VASA
to be titled “Floral Riffs”.
The Side Yard
30x30, Acrylic, SOLD
Very soft and floral, this one is. The title harkens back to my Grandmother's side yard in the hot, B.C. sunshine. It was always shaded and cool, full of peonies and roses.
Sunny Meadow, 36x36, SOLD
Are those Larkspurs?, someone asked. Sure, sure they are, if you want them to be. And those may be green sprites dancing below them! In the sunny meadow.
Blue Blossoms, 10x10, $200
Orange Solitary, 10x10, SOLD
Pink Solitary, 10x10, SOLD
Solitary White and Red, 12x12, SOLD
Judy’s Blooms, 10x10, SOLD
Ah the problems of success, here I am trying to build an inventory for a show and people keep buying them. Judy bought this one!
Hot Times, 24x24, $480
Blues and Reds, 36x36, acrylic, DONATED TO AMY’s HOUSE Cancer Patient Accommodations | Amy's House Edmonton (amyshouse.ca)
Could be Larkspurs and Peonies, or your favourite flowers. They are imaginary, but if they elicit memories from you then I have achieved my goal.
Breathless, 36x36, $720
Kind of like Baby’s Breath, sort of!
Orange Vines, 24x30, $540
Orange Blossoms, 30x30, SOLD
Fields and Thunder Showers, 24x30, SOLD
I couldn’t find a good name for this one, so Danielle did it for me. Perfect!
The Beach, 36x36, $720
Magenta Blossoms, 16x16, $320
Orange Vines 2, 12x16, $280
Orange Drops, 12x12, SOLD

Silver on black, the photo doesn’t do justice to it.
While creating works for my floral show I also created these:
I have no idea what they are, but they were fun and I like them.
