Renewal Alberta Rose. Acrylic. 24x24. $480
This was created as a commission for: Healing After Wildfire (HAW), a greeting card project by Tearoots.org in collaboration with the Edmonton’s 10th Poet Laureate (2023) and Layton Prize winner (2022), Shima Robinson.
The pink Alberta Rose provides spiritual cleansing and protection for People of the First Nations in the flat central plains and Rocky Mountains of Canada. Rose hips provide jams, jellies and tea, with more vitamin C, calcium, phosphorous and iron than oranges. The petals, buds, young leaves and hose hips are also eaten by the local animals and birds. The rose essence closes skin pores and improves skin tone, boosts immune systems, relieves cold/flu symptoms, and is an aphrodisiac.
The digital version was commissioned by Tearoots.org a non-profit in San Francisco, USA. Check them out: tearoots.org.
